About Momos Recipe: These popular street dumplings stand as the most favorite food for kids today. Momos originating from Tibet region is hugely popular street food in the country, largely in northeastern India. A versatile food that it is, we have a wide variety available from chicken, mutton. Since the kids love the dish so much, it is always great to make it at home. Veg memos, a steamed or fried dumpling stuffed with mixed vegetables, is a delicious snake food enjoyed in Tibet region. From the last few years, Momos are getting very popular in other parts of India and you can easily prepare them at home by either steaming or deep frying. The traditional recipe requires it to cook by steaming and this recipe uses this technique to keep them healthier and authentic. These dumplings are packed with healthy veggies like paneer, carrots, and cabbage with onion, garlic. The perfect homemade vegetarian snack to serve for evening snacks. I had to serve them with a spicy sauce. I chose to serve the veg momos with schezwan sauce. I keep the vegetable filling balanced in taste and lightly spiced so that it accompanies the spicy and hot sauce very well. At home, we love steamed momos over the fried ones. So this recipe is of steamed memos, it tastes delicious. I hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you.

Stuffing for veg momos is ready
I am not frying the vegetables since it would be steamed. But you can fry them if you want
Knead the dough again for a minutes
Divide it into equal portion
Further, pinch a small ball and flatten
Now dust with some maida and start to roll using a rolling pin
Place approx 1 tablespoon filling in the center. Don't overstuff it, otherwise, it will be difficult to get a proper "potli" shape
Lift the edge from one side and start pleating ( fold the edge a little inside and little outside alternatively )
Join them in the center to seal it
Prepare momos from remaining dough in a similar way
Grease a steamer plate with oil to prevent them from sticking
Arrange veg momos on a plate in a way that there is some space around them to expand
Place momos plate in the steamer cover the lid
Steam them 7 to 8 minutes
Remove the lid and check them they look little translucent and shiny
If they don't feel sticky then it means they are cooked
Transfer them to a serving plate serve hot Veg Momos with Momos Chutney or Schezwan Sauce
You can choose any vegetable to make the stuffing, add button mushroom along with other veggies used in this recipe for a variation. I don't like capsicum or beans in my momos so I didn't use them in my recipe, but you can use them if you like 🙂
