Whole green moong dal is a very nutritious and fibrous dal. Green moong dal can cooked in a pressure cooker or on open flame. Whole moong dal as well as moong lentils are my preferred choice of legumes, to make dals or khichhdi as they are easy to digest and nutritious. The taste of this whole moong dal is very good and really goes well with chapati or steamed rice.

150 g Whole green moong dal
1 tsp Turmeric
½ tsp Red kashmiri mirch powder
1 tsp Kitchen king masala
1 tsp Meat masala
1 tsp Cumin seeds
½ tsp Hing
2 tbsp Oil
1 Onion medium size chopped finely
½ tsp green chili (crushed)
6 Garlic clove (crushed)
½ tsp Ginger (crushed)
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves chopped finely for garnishing (optional)
1 Tomato chopped finely (optional)
1 Wash moong dal very well under running water and drain moong dal
2 Take a pressure cooker and add whole moong dal , salt and turmeric powder
3 Add water and close it with lid
4 Cook it for 7 to 8 whistles . Let the pressure go down and open the cover
5 Keep a side in a bowl
6 Heat the oil in a pan and add cumin seeds and let them sizzle
7 Then add hing , chopped onion and cook tillgolden brown . Then add crushed green chili,garlic,ginger and cook for 2 to 3 minutes
8 Then add dry spice powder mix well and cook for 2 minutes
9 Now add this masala to boiled whole green moong dal
10 Mix well and sprinkle chopped coriander leaves
11 Served chapati or rice
