Sambhar Recipe – How to make delicious Sambhar – Tasty Sambhar Recipe

Sambhar is an important part of traditional tamil cuisine. The awesome smell of fried spices in hot sambhar draws you to it .Sambhar can be eaten with any of them . It can be prepared in many ways

 200 g Toovar (Arhar) dal
 1 cup Bottle gourd (doodhi /lauki) chooped cubes
 2 tbsp Oil
 1 tsp Mustard seeds (rai/sarson)
 6 Curry leaves (kadi patta)
 2 Pinches of asafoetida (hing)
 3 tbsp Sambhar powder
 2 tbsp Tamarind (imli) pulp
 1 tsp Red chili powder
 1 tsp Turmeric powder (haldi)
 Salt to taste

Take a pressure cooker add dal turmeric powder salt and add water and bring to a boil

Open lid once the pressure has reduce .Mash the cook dal with a spoon

Take a kadhi and add mash dal ,sambhar powder,red chili powder

boiled lauki salt and water

Mix well and boiled dal for 5 to 6 minutes then add tamarind pulp, boiled dal and simmer for three to four minutes switch off the gas

For tempering take a pan heat 2 spoons oil add mustard seeds ,when they splutter add dry red chili,asafoetida and curry leaves

spread the tempering over the sambhar

Serve hot with idli or dosa
