Fish is one of the favorite sea foods at home and most time it is the fish fry that is made as they are quick to make.Fish curry is made during our every visit to my mum’s home as we are accessible to fresh water fish. During our visit to my mum’s home, i got to make this recipe. It turned out very good so, I make fish curry at my home.There are so many iterations of fish curry, you might get lost figuring out which is the best to try first . 1 Cup =240 ML
Marination for fish curry
1 kg Fish
1 tbsp Turmer powder
2 tbsp Garlic paste
1 tsp Red chilli powder or as per your taste
Salt to taste
For Fish Curry
1 Medium Onion sliced
4 Medium tomato ripe ( grind)
1 tsp Saunf (fennel seeds) optional
1 tsp Red chilli powder or as per required
1 tbsp Cumin (jeera)
1 tsp Green chilli pest
2 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
1 tbsp Khas khas ,(Poppy seedd) or posta dana
⅔ cup Yellow mustard seeds
¼ cup Coriander seeds
Salt to taste
2 Bay leaf
Mustard oil or any Cooking oil for fish fry
1 tbsp Coriander leaves finely chopped
Water for curry as per your required
1 Take any fish, Clean and wash the fish
2 Take a bowl add clean fish add turmeric powder, salt
3 Add red chilli powder
4 Add garlic paste if you want coriander powder add them
5 Mix well
6 Marinate fish keep aside for 10 minutes
7 Heat a pan on a medium flame and roast the coriander seeds, cumin seeds (jeera)
8 Add Khas-khas and fennel seeds roasted on medium flame
9 Roasted until the mixture turns fragrant or release their aroma
10 Keep aside for cooling
11 Take a mixer jar add mustard seeds, onion, garlic and roasted all ingredients
12 And blend to a smooth or coarse paste to suit your liking
13 if you needed add water to bland well
14 Heat mustard oil in deep pan
15 Add the marinated fish
16 Fry one side and when it becomes golden
17 Turn over and fry the other side
18 Fry it till they are golden brown both side fry them in batches
19 Remove the fried fish and place them on kitchen paper to absorb extra oil keep aside
20 Now remove the extra oil from the pan and keep 2 tbsp oil it
21 Add cumin seeds crackle them add bay leaf
22 Add Mustard paste along garlic ginger paste
23 After dry roasting for a while add salt , turmeric powder, red chilli powder
24 Keep stir on medium flame
25 fry until the mixture turns fragrant or release their aroma
26 Fry (Bhunna) the paste till it attains reddish brown color and doesn't taste raw
27 Fry it till the oil separates
28 Add tomato paste to the mixture
29 Keep stir it
30 Fry it for 4 to 5 minutes
31 Fry it till the oil separates
32 Add water as per curry, gravy demands
33 Mix it and let it Boil the curry (gravy)
34 Now add fried fish and dip it as well
35 Now simmer in 3 to 4 minutes
36 switch off the flame
37 Garnish with coriander leaves
38 Now fish curry is ready
