Crispy and flakey traditional Gujiya recipe is rich and delicious in taste. Packed with goodness of desiccated coconut and dry nuts,its a perfect sweet for any Indian Festival. With Holi and Diwali around the corner,every household is gearing up to prepare their favorite sweets.Some of the sweets that are eaten on the festive occasion of Holi .but for me Holi without Gujiya Recipe is incomplete

For stuffing
25gSooji
½cupKhoya (mawa)
10Cashew nuts crushed
2tbspDesiccated coconut
1tbspKishmis
1tspCardamom powder
4tbspSugar
Oil or Ghee for frying
For outer cover
300gAll purpose flour (Maida)
4tbspGhee or Oil
Water as per require

Heat ghee in a pan add sooji keep stirring continuously, on medium flame

Cook till it becomes light brown add melted mawa, cardamom powder, cashew nut ,coconut and all ingredients and add sugar mix well

Turn off the stove it took me 3-4 minutes

Remove it to a bowl.So it gets cool down faster, mix it well it is better to use your fingertip to break all the lumps and to mix thoroughly .keep it aside

Making the dough . Take all purpose flour in a bowl,drizzle ghee and rub it into flour using your fingertips

,it will be breadcrumb like texture

Start adding little water at a time , knead into stiff and smooth dough

Divide it into equal portions

Work with one flatten disc at a time roll into 4 inch diameter circle

Put about a tablespoon stuffing in the center

Apply little water around the edges using your finger or you can use brush

Fold it into half circle ,seal the edges by pressing it ,if you have gujiya moulds then use that

Make all the gujiya and keep them covered with kitchen towel to prevent it from drying out

When about to finish shaping, heat the oil or ghee in a pan on medium heat for frying

Once it is golden brown and crispy from all sides ,use the slotted spoon to remove it

Now gujiya is ready serve it
